Summer Staff

Come join our camp family and serve on summer staff with us! Our summers are very busy and LOADS OF FUN! We work hard and we play hard! We can’t do what we do at LaVerne Griffin Camp with out the help of our Summer staff. What better way to spend your Summer break, than to serve as camp staff in Alaska! We are looking for individuals that are 18 years or older, love the outdoors, love people, love Jesus, and love to share the love of Jesus with everyone! Each week, you will have the opportunity to serve campers of all ages and work with mission teams from all over the United States. This position will allow you to work hand in hand with kids, youth, and adults in a Christian setting through weeklong camps and mission projects. You will also serve behind-the-scenes assisting with daily cleaning tasks, working in kitchen and dish room, helping to serve meals, and maintaining grounds. You are asked to commit to at least 8 weeks of service (Usually Last week of May – End of July).

Those who serve at the camp become a part of our family. We live and serve together. We pray and study God’s Word together. We walk together, laugh together, cry together, and rejoice together throughout the summer. Each day begins with staff devotion and prayer time. You will be surrounded by wonderful Christian leaders who encourage you to use your gifts and talents to serve others in unique and out-of-the-box ways. You will be encouraged to stretch yourself, search yourself, and strive to grow personally.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with all aspects of camp ministry such as daily cleaning, grounds maintenance, food preparation and service, assisting mission teams in completing projects, serving as a part of leadership team for kids and youth camps, lead staff/camp devotions, as well as any other duties necessary to serve campers. Serve as a cabin leader if needed, assist with worship and recreation times, use specific gifts and talents (playing an instrument, singing, art, computers, photography, videography)


  • Must be 18 years or older

  • A sincere love for the Lord and a desire to see others come to know and grow in Him

  • An eagerness to learn and grow both personally and spiritually

  • Evidence of a consistent walk with God 

  • A servant attitude and ability to work together for the good of the ministry and staff

  • Work well with others

  • Follow instructions

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Must be able to complete duties that require standing, squatting, lifting, and walking

  • Flexibility and a willingness to work with leadership, fellow staff and guests

Other Information:

  • Summer Mission Staff is responsible for airfare.

  • The work is not difficult, but often physically challenging because of the hours we put in.

  • Staff should be physically able to do daily tasks.

  • Most sightseeing is free, except for meals and souvenirs. You’ll need money to purchase snacks you want and any meal off the campus. 

  • We provide housing, bedding and linens, local transportation, and most meals(except when off campus).

  • WIFI is available when needed. You must bring your own laptop or devices.

  • A stipend of $2000 will be given at the end of summer!
